About PlainPlan Benefits

PlainPlan Benefits is an independent Medicare insurance agency in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, founded by licensed agent Luckny Dubreus. We started it because we believe everyone in the United States should be able to find Medicare coverage they can afford, and understand exactly what they’re buying before they sign.

Why we started PlainPlan Benefits

Turning 65 in South Florida means a mailbox full of Medicare flyers, a phone that rings all through the fall, and TV ads promising extra benefits. What it rarely means is someone sitting down with you and explaining, in words you use every day, what each choice will cost you and which doctors you’ll be able to see.

Over 9 years in insurance, Luckny watched the same story repeat. A retiree picks a plan because of a commercial or a call they didn’t ask for. In January they find out their cardiologist isn’t in the network, or that a prescription costs three times what they expected. Families who don’t speak English as a first language have it harder still, because the letters, the phone menus and the enrollment forms all assume you do.

PlainPlan Benefits is the answer to that problem. The name is the promise: a plain explanation of your plan, from people who compare the whole market and show you the trade-offs before you choose.

Meet Luckny Dubreus, founder

Luckny Dubreus is a Haitian insurance agent who has spent 9 years helping South Florida families with their coverage. Much of that work has been in the Haitian community he’s part of, where Medicare conversations often happen in Kreyòl with a parent and in English with their grown children, on the same call.

He’s licensed to sell health insurance in Florida, California and Texas, and his work covers Medicare Supplement (Medigap), Medicare Advantage, Part D prescription drug plans and Dual Special Needs Plans for people with both Medicare and Medicaid. He also screens every client for Extra Help and the Medicare Savings Programs, because the cheapest plan is sometimes the one the state helps pay for.

Luckny is building PlainPlan Benefits into an agency with more licensed agents, so that more families get the same kind of patient, side-by-side conversation.

What "plain" means in practice

Both paths, every time

We show you Medicare Supplement with Part D and Medicare Advantage together, with a full-year cost for each. We're paid by both kinds of plan, so we have no reason to push one.

Your language, your pace

We explain Medicare in English or Haitian Creole, and your family is welcome on the call. Nobody has to decide on the first conversation.

Still here after you enroll

We read the Annual Notice of Change with you each September, help with billing problems, and look at your options again when you move or your situation changes.

How we're different from a call center

Most people reach a Medicare agent through a TV ad or an online form that sells their number to several companies. Here’s how working with us compares.

How we check the information on this site

Medicare numbers change every year, and a lot of what’s online is out of date or simply wrong. For example, some national sites say Florida Medigap plans can be priced by attained age. Florida rules actually require issue-age pricing, which matters a great deal for what you’ll pay at 75.

Every guide on this site is written or reviewed by a licensed agent. We take figures from Medicare.gov, CMS, the Social Security Administration and the Florida Department of Financial Services, and we date the prices we quote. When a rule or premium changes, we update the page. If you spot an error, tell us and we’ll fix it.

Who we help and where

We’re based in Lauderdale Lakes and work mostly with people in Broward County and Palm Beach County: people turning 65, people still working past 65, people switching plans, and families who have both Medicare and Medicaid.

We meet at home by appointment in Broward, and by phone or video in Palm Beach and the rest of Florida. We also help residents of California and Texas by pho
